What it is
In a dystopian near-future Britain, the number of children born is regulated by law. Joanna Barnsley and Greg Snider are the officers who collect the women who breach it. Joanna believes she cannot conceive — until she does, earning far too little to meet the registration standard, and facing a choice she has spent her career enforcing on other people.
