Terms of sale and use

This is the agreement between you and us when you use this site, buy a film, order a poster, or become a member. We have kept it in plain English — where it says something you would not expect, we have said why.

1. Who you are dealing with

This site is operated by Cyberpunk Studios Ltd, trading as Cyberpunk Studios (“we”, “us”).

If you are buying as a consumer, you have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 that nothing here takes away. Where this agreement and those rights disagree, those rights win.

2. What we sell

Every film is bought — we do not rent. Nothing is free to watch, members included. These are the things you can buy, and they are not the same:

The member price needs you signed in as a member when you buy — we cannot tell who somebody is from an address typed at the checkout.

3. What you may do with a film

Buying a film gives you a personal, non-transferable licence to watch it within the passes and downloads above. It does not transfer any ownership of the film itself.

You may:

• Watch it yourself, and with your household.
• Keep the copies you downloaded on your own devices.

You may not:

• Upload it anywhere, share the file, or make it available to the public.
• Show it publicly or to an audience — that includes screenings, clubs, classrooms and businesses. If you want to do that, ask us: we are a distributor, and public exhibition is a thing we can licence properly.
• Sell it, rent it out, or include it in anything you charge for.

Some titles are licensed to us by their filmmakers rather than made by us. Those filmmakers keep their rights, and the same rules apply to their work.

About downloads and sharing

A download is a plain MP4 with no copy protection. That is a deliberate choice: we would rather trust people who pay us than make the experience worse for them. It is not permission to pass films around.

You download from your library. Each press of the button uses one of your downloads and gives an address that is made for your account and works for one hour — so a copied download link stops working, and nobody can spend your downloads for you.

Fair use

We keep a record of when each viewing pass is opened and each download is taken, with the town and country your connection comes from. We use it to spot a film being shared — the same account playing in two places at once, say. We look at it; nothing is blocked automatically. If something looks wrong we will get in touch, and if a film is being shared at scale we may close the account and refuse further sales.

4. Paying

Payments are taken by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe and never reach us — we cannot see them, and we do not store them.

Prices are in pounds sterling and include everything. Membership renews automatically each month or year until you cancel. You cancel in your account, through Stripe’s own billing page, and you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.

If a membership payment fails, the membership carries on while the card is retried; if it ends, your bought films fall back to their passes and downloads as set out above. Films you have bought are never taken away by a failed payment.

5. Cancelling and refunds

Films and memberships

Normally you would have 14 days to change your mind about something bought online. Digital content is the exception: when you buy a film or subscribe, you ask us to give you access straight away, and you accept that doing so ends that 14-day right. We ask you to confirm that at the checkout, because the law requires us to.

Beyond that, we are more generous than we have to be:

• A film you bought but have not watched or downloaded — ask within 14 days and we will refund it, no questions.
• Membership — if you have just renewed and have not watched anything since, tell us and we will refund that period.
• Anything broken — if a film will not play properly, or is not what we said it was, you get your money back. That is your legal right and we are not going to argue about it.

Posters

Posters are physical goods and the usual rules apply: you have 14 days from delivery to change your mind, and another 14 days to send it back. You pay the return postage unless it arrived damaged or wrong. Tell us before you return anything so we know to expect it.

Posters are printed when you order them, so allow a week or so. If something is going to take much longer than that, we will tell you.

6. Your account

Keep your sign-in details to yourself — your viewing passes and downloads are counted against your account, so anybody who has them is using yours. Tell us if you think somebody else has them.

You can ask us to close your account at any time. Copies you have downloaded stay yours; if you have downloads left, we will make sure you can use them first.

7. What we do not promise

We will try to keep the site up and the films playing, but we do not guarantee it is available all the time. Things break, suppliers have outages, and occasionally we take it down to change something.

Titles can come and go. If a licence ends, a film may leave the catalogue — but not your library: the viewing passes and downloads you have left on a film you bought still work, and a copy you downloaded is yours to keep. If a film you bought becomes impossible for us to serve, we will tell you and refund you for what you could not use.

Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. Otherwise, and because this is a consumer service at a small price, our liability to you is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before the problem arose. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses.

8. Behaving reasonably

Do not attempt to break the site, get round the paywall, scrape the catalogue, or use it to distribute anything unlawful. We can suspend accounts that do. If we do that to you and you think we are wrong, say so — there is a human here.

9. Changes

We may change these terms. If a change matters to you — prices, what a membership includes, your rights — we will tell members by email before it takes effect, and the date at the top of this page will change. Carrying on using the service after that means you accept the new version. If you do not, cancel and we will refund the rest of the period.

10. Complaints, and the law

If something has gone wrong, email contact@cyberpunkstudios.co.uk first. We would much rather fix it than have you go elsewhere.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can bring proceedings in your own courts.
